In 2014, I decided to get serious about my hobby and genuinely work on my improving my craft. I did this by reading (a lot) and making a serious effort to write consistently and often. I tracked (almost) every word I wrote, and as of today (with the help of a few hundred gallons of coffee), I managed to write 119,564 words. In 2015, I plan to double that.
I published my first short story and first novella this year and learned a lot in the process. I focused on paying attention to what other people were doing well in their writing and what they didn't do so well.
I’ve read well over 50 books this year, and reviewed only a small portion of them. Next year, I plan to review all of them. I’ve found that reviewing books allows me to focus on the technical and editorial aspects of the books, which in turn has helped to improve my writing.
I’ve also had the chance to talk with several, extremely intelligent writers, they have been gracious enough to answer questions and give guidance over the past year, and I am indebted to them all. I have several interviews already lined up for next year, some great authors I think are going to make big impressions on the writing world.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without you guys, my readers and fans. Thank you so much for your support over the past year! 2015 is going to be an incredible year and I can’t wait to share it with all of you!
Most of all, I have to thank my wife. She puts up with my need to sit at the computer for hours on end and create. Without her support, I wouldn’t be half the writer I am today! Love you babe!
To everyone, I hope all your wishes for 2014 came true and wish your hopes and dreams for 2015 quickly become reality!
Don’t forget to dream big!
