The Write Stuff #4- What Makes a Great Character?

Keystroke Medium and The Write Stuff Show

So, I’ve been neck deep in revising Shadows of Neverland (Second Star Book 3) and haven’t had time for much else. However, there are some new happening of late that some of you might be interested in.

Almost two years ago, I learned that one of my co-workers was also an indie author and began reading one of his first books, Enemy of Man. Since then, Scott Moon and I have been meeting almost every week to discuss the craft and share news and write. We’ve both learned a lot and helped each other grow as authors. [READ MORE]

If you've been following my Facebook updates, which you had better be doing, you already know I'm a little over three-quarters of the way through Shadows of Neverland, the third of my Second Star series. This is a first draft and even after I’m finished with it, there will still be a shit-ton of work to do. [Read more]

Introducing the Vlog o' Words!

Picture
I've been trying to find different ways of sharing and interacting with you guys, and recently learned about "vloging" and found out some authors actually stream their creative processes live, so I've decided to try it.

You can check out my Vlog o' Words section here on my site, or check out my YouTube page. Either way it's sure to be riveting and filled with action and cursing! We'll see how it goes, please forgive all the technical difficulties with the first few streams, I'm a newb.

Enjoy!

THE WHITE NIGHT

Picture
“I’m hungry. You need to let me in.”

The White Night, the follow up to The Dark Man and second book in the Graveyard Classified series by Desmond Doane (or Ernie Lindsey, if you prefer), will grab hold of you and won’t let go…ever.

Unlike his debut Graveyard novel, The Dark Man, which is told primarily from Ford Atticus Ford’s perspective, The White Night follows Ford as well as his old partner, Mike Long, on two separate, but eerily connected adventures. [READ MORE]

Shooting off fireworks and Manuscripts

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Sent off my latest manuscript to my editor this week and I’m feeling pretty good about it. They say the number one hurdle to overcome as a writer is finishing the book. Well, now I’ve done that twice. I’m not sure what took me so long to finish it, though.

When I published my first book [Breaking Through] I had book two [The Forgotten Prince] almost completely written, well the first draft anyway, and it’s taken me almost six months to revise and produce a finished manuscript that hopefully doesn’t suck...

I'm Baaaaaaaaack!

Holy crap, my last post was on January 4th? Are you serious right now?

…What a slacker!

Okay, in my defense, I’ve been house-shopping, packing, moving, unpacking, decorating, sorting, storing, unpacking again, packing again, oh, and dealing with a teething baby. Not that I’ve been busy or anything… (continue reading)

Coming into 2015, I've got a lot of fun interviews and reviews planned. Instead of just keeping the old "Interview with..." title, I've decided to give my interview series a sort of 'brand-name' if you will. So, to kick off this new 'branding', I present my first Indie Spotlight, featuring writer and admin of the popular Facebook Group, Space Opera: Scott McGlasson.

Starting the New Year out with a bang!

Going into the New Year, I have decided to focus more on productivity, time management and tracking. This is my seriouser serious year.

Last year, my goal was to publish my first book. This year, my goal is to publish the final four Second Star novellas, to finish out the series and begin work on the two other projects I have sitting in my TO WRITE folder. Hell, I may even do something crazy and work on a few projects simultaneously.

The word-count spreadsheet I used last year, tracked daily, weekly, monthly and yearly word counts. This year I’ve kicked it up a notch, and started tracking avg. daily word counts as well, as well as non-fiction words. After all, a lot of my “work-time”  ...read more

Little Goals For A Bigger Picture

Writing stories is fun, writing books is hard.

Staying motivated and seeing your book through from beginning to end is one of the hardest things to do as a writer. In this week's Blog Post I share some of the things that have helped me stay motivated and push through to the end.
